ATELIER DE LYON + RIETVELD LANDSCAPE

Bunker 599, Diefdijklinie, Netherlands  2010

Amsterdam design group Rietveld Landscape and Dutch artist Erick de Lyon launched their project Bunker 599. They deconstructed one of the bunkers along the New Dutch Waterline, a defense line in the Netherlands used from 1815 to 1940. Using a bevy of equipment they split the building into two separate halves to reveal the hidden interior. The artists wanted to reinvent the closed off bunkers into accessible entities, to “create a public domain out of them.” Check out the captivating “Making of Bunker 599” video | via
